Aktivitas Anti Bakteri Ekstrak Kulit Buah Durian (Durio Zibethinus)

Several researches suggested the advantages of durian shell (Durio Zibethinus), it can be a material of insecticide and antifungal. The aim of this study was to analyze antibacterial activities of durian shell (Durio Zibethinus) on oral pathogenic bacteria. This is a laboratory experiment. Durian Shell was tested on Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus aureus,and Candida albicans.Maceration Method was used to get the durian shell extract. While, Well Method and Dilution Method were for antibacterial tested. The indicator to determine antibacterial activities were inhibition zone, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and Minimum Bacterisidal Concentration (MBC). The result showed that based on phytochemical screening, durian shell extract contained: alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, and saponin. Average of inhibition zone diameter increased, from 6.25% (minimum concentration) to 50% (maximum concentration). Candida albicans had the widest inhibition zone diameter, in contrary to Streptococcus aureus. The MIC and MBC of each bacteria on durian shell was S. Mutans (12,5% and 25%), S. Aureus (12,5% and 25%), and C. Albicans:(6,25% and 12,5%). It can be conclude that durian shell extract contains antibacterial. The higher concentration of durian shell extract, the more effective it is to counter the bacteria growth.
