ABSTRACT
Manutapen Village has highest ranks of diarrhea cases in Kupang City 2010- 2012. The aim of research was to determine the factors associated with the incidence of diarrhea in Manutapen Village Alak District of Kupang City. This analytical research using the case control study. The variables studied were knowledge, Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS), the condition of water supply and latrine condition. Data were collected through interviews and direct observations then were analyzed by chi-square test. This study found the knowledge and clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) have a meaningful relationship with the incidence of diarrhea (both p 0.000), there was a relationship between the condition of clean water facilities and the incidence of diarrhea (p 0.046), while the condition of latrines was no relationship with the incidence of diarrhea (p 0.077). Counseling needs to be done intensively and continuously to improve the knowledge, PHBS and the provision of clean water so as to prevent the occurrence of
diarrheal disease in the community.
